Due to the interest in our second feature Bar Stewards, I'll keep this thread updated with news and screen grabs. And good news for Chris Finch fans, we'll be adding a new still every Friday (where possible), or rather Finchy Fridays as they've been labelled ;)

Here are the stills already posted:

We were out testing HD cameras yesterday over at Web Studios in Manchester, so a late update. Here's yesterdays still:

Ah, thank you, Michael, for the new film still; it's lovely. You're a gem! :)

Having been taken on a HD camera, I can see that the above still does have a slightly more 'vivid' feel to it in comparison to the other two. Though, I suppose, it is all subjective as to whether it is a 'better' image as it all depends on the look you want to go for to suit your film the best.

How did you feel the testing went yesterday, Michael? And I imagine you really have to consider your budget when thinking of a switch over to HD.

Heh, they've all been taken with the same set-up :D . The difference is in the lighting, and the fact that they haven't been color graded yet. The last screen grab is supposed to be daytime in the pub, the 1st screen grab is supposed to be about 9am. The middle screen grab, Layton is supposed to be at his lowest hence it's a bit murkier. None are shot on DV, it just wouldn't be possible to get this kind of performance to be honest.

We weren't testing the HD cams for this project, it was an independent test for a post-production tv company to show the strengths, weaknesses and comparisons for each camera in a variety of shooting situations ;)

Ah, I'll try.... :p However, that 'wink' in the above quote IS worrying me! ;)

Lovely stills, Michael; thanks again. :) And is that poster meant to be particularly significant? ;)

It's Brian De Palma's excellent movie Carlito's Way. Pacino is a genius in that film, as is Sean Penn and the rest of the cast.

I''m really pleased that we're starting to get so much interest at this stage of the production, especially with Chris, it's a pity he gets killed off in the second scene. I think we might make it the third or fourth scene Mike, what do you think, shame to waste this excitement really.

Joanna, you're persistant I'll give you that, God loves a tryer. Well done on getting the info off the cast and crew site, crafty bugger. Anyway, I just hope it lives up to your expectations, we'll certainly do our best not to diasappoint you. I hope you will enjoy the snippets that Mike puts up for you. Keep up the comments and the support, and hope to meet up sometime.

I'm only joking about killing him off by the way.

Oh, surely you could stretch things out to maybe the sixth or seventh scene, just for the entertainment value of it all...surely you could?! :p

Hiya, Tim. It's 'crafty bugger' here! :D

It was great reading your post; I hope there are lots more of them to come!

And of course it'll live up to my expectations. You're a very talented bunch and so I have total faith in you all that you'll make a film to be very proud of. :)

Just sorting out making a lot of revisions to my 'BS key facts' (thank you, Michael!) and so was wondering if you could help me out with a lil thing. Georgina Hunter is maybe to play Carla and so I've been seeing if she has a IMDb page. The nearest person to her name I can find is a 'Georgina Ayers-Hunt'. Is this a different Georgina?

Oh, and there's a link to your official site in there, too!

And what would that be to me, Michael....?* ;)

PS *That means a 'total pleasure'! :D :)

Thanks for getting back. Georgina Hunter doesn't have an IMDB link. George is primarily a stage actress with very little film or TV work to her credits. She came along to a casting we held a while back for something else and was brilliant. She appeared in a film we did for the 2006 film challenge and was really good despite it being a really small role. I knew then we could definately find her a role in BS, and I'm sure she'll be great.

Hope that helps.

Thank you so much Michael for all the Bar Stewards updates and film stills- they are very much appreciated!

Joanna recommended this site to me so I thought I would sign up :)

I have to say that Finchy Fridays sound rather appealing! :D ;)

I'm really looking forward to seeing the film, especially Chris' involvement in it :) It looks really good from the stills you've posted from it so far :D

That's one word for it, I suppose! :p ;)

Though, I'm not only 'enthusiastic' about Chris's part in this, but I also feel that way about Bar Stewards as a whole, too! :)
