So you're a grind-house collector Mike? I take it you (like me) can't wait for this double flick to get released! I heard about a competition that Rodriguez is holding for the best 'fake' 2 minute grind-house trailer (read below)

Filmmakers have a deadline of February 12 to submit their “grindhouse trailer” (no longer than two minutes in length) to SXSW. The trailer should be made for a fictional feature-film, just like those being made by celebrity directors Eli Roth and Rob Zombie for Grindhouse. From those submissions, Rodriguez will determine the best of the bunch, and it will screen during a special presentation entitled “Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse 101” on Sunday, March 11. During the presentation, Rodriguez will share stories and footage from the making of the upcoming Dimension Films release.

You can check out the deeds HERE but it'd be cool to attempt a grind-house trailer even for fun's sake!

In today's Daily Star, there's an article about Grindhouse (p23). Accompanied by a main pic of Cherry Darling and her leg gun, and inset pics of Quentin Tarantino and the movie's poster, it reads....

Quent's gore war

FILM MAY NOT GET A RATING

QUENTIN Tarantino's new movie is facing a monstering by censors who say it's so gory they can't work out how to give it a rating.

Less than three weeks before the US release of Grindhouse, the Motion Picture Association of America is deciding which gruesome scenes must be cut before it can get "adults only" approval.

The film, which Tarantino describes as "as close to Hell as I've got", features scenes of stomach-churning torture, murder and mutilation. In one sequence, ex-Charmed star Rose McGowan's character gets her leg sliced off and replaced with a machine gun.

An MPAA source said: "Some people were physically sick at screenings and members are worried it's not suitable for even an adults-only audience."

And discuss.... :D

So it's not a film you would rent for a family night in then...

I've turned totally squeemish recently, but I can watch gore to some extent, I watched a film with Sparky a few weeks ago, I forgot waht it was called, but it was about a man who films murdering people.

I hated it... How can you watch somebody tied to a chair and then set on fire, or watching a woman having her neck sliced open I will never know, mind you, I cant even put myself through an episode of Casulty these days. :(

But if the gore is action packed - I love it! :) :)

Hmmm, sounds like something the legendary William Castle would add to the press kit of one of his films... I wonder if this MPAA source has the initials QT ;)

Just found this from way-back... Could almost be something out of a Grindhouse movie.

Those trailers are quality. They don't make 'em like that anymore, more's the pity. I've seen bits of grindhouse, including all the fake trailers. There's one called machete which is absolutely marvellous. I don't know if Rodriguez has done it or not because there are a few familiar faces from his films in there but it's right on the money. I've started buying all the old horror films that I used to watch as a kid. Just got 'Sleepaway Camp' which was known as 'Nightmare Vacation' over here I think. The film itself is pretty awful and wasn't as I remembered, I thought the same about 'The Burning' when I watched that too. They just aren't quite the same when you watch them as an adult. However it was worth the 80 something minutes of shite for the last 60 seconds, which includes one of the great twists, and a genuinely unsettling final scene which still made me feel uneasy when I watched it on my own. Anyone remember this film?

yeah i do, it came out at the time when most horror films started with the word "the" ie; the rabid, the thing, the shining... the list goes on, was the burning the one with the garden shears?

Indeed it was Wiggy. Watch them fingers! I believe it also starred a young George Costanza, and Holly Hunter was in it as well. I've just ordered 'Devil Times Five', that proper shit me up when I first watched it. I was only 7 years old though.

Strawbs. You only need to put the dTdExWrnmHQ bit between the [YT] tags, and nothing else or it won't work. I've fixed it for you.

Birty. You can't beat Fulci's Zombie Flesh Eaters and The Beyond as well. You should also see Island of Death and House by the Edge of the Park. House by the Edge of the Park stars John Morghen aka Giovanni Lombardo Radice (from Cannibal Ferox) and David Hess (from Last House on the Left). Two legendary Grindhouse actors for the price of one.

Island of Death is notable because at the end of the film, this farmer guy, just before leaving someone for dead, decides to add insult to injury by guffing on them. And no it's not played for laughs, even though it's totally ridiculous. And the lead has sex with a goat too, and then later calls some gay folk "perverts" and proceeds to murder them.

Ahh, thank you. :)

No, I read the instructions - 3 times - but it's all pretty much Charlie Brown's teacher to me. I really should've been an 18th century maid or something.
