Yeah, it's makes for interesting thinking to even begin to wonder what it would mean for upcoming actors/actresses/film-makers if every film-maker was given an automatic, and decent, budget from the start, and so they'd never be any 'no-budget' films made EVER again. Being realistically cynical ;) , it won't ever happen, but the thought is an interesting one, nonetheless! :p o_O
That's a very interesting point.

And I wonder what movies would have benefited from having less money?

An interesting one is Cable Guy. Before the script was picked up by a studio it was going to be made on a micro budget. I know someone who read the original script. They said it would have benefited from not having the expectations that a star like Jim Carrey brought to it. And also that the original script was far more low key, quirky and less Hollywood.

I know for a fact that Bar Stewards would never work with an 11 million budget dollar budget. Would be nice to have £250,000 though!

That's just for Chris's trailer.

PMSL! Beat me to it again, Joe! :D :D :D :D

Just after I noticed your LFL slideshow, I had to go off the internet briefly (so hadn't yet checked your 'pic' area ;) :p ). Get back on it, intending to make a post on said slideshow.....only to see your post on the very same thing! PMSL! :D

Great pics, though, Joe! :) They seem to be a nice representation of the film as a whole. And THIS pic is the most astonishing for me. Just amazing. :)

You don't mean THIS piccy and THIS piccy, perchance, which come, respectively, 3rd and 15th in the slideshow (going from after the LFL website homepage piccy!! :D )?! ;) :D

I feel a lil DS link coming on! ;)

I agree. :) The drawings and paintings are part of what interests me about the film and I'm looking forward to seeing them in more detail. It must be so great to have that kind of talent!

Thanks for the Chris pics Joe! Looking at them, you wouldn't want to cross him when he's in a bad mood would you! (I think maybe he was mad with his hairdresser.. ;) o_O :) )

Russell Grant should stick to reading horoscopes...

that may be a bit veiled and late but I only read this thread now...

I like the trailer Joe, is the whole film going to get that treatment?

Joe - Loving the new pics....They're great! Thank you! :D :) And I'll get thinking on that 'caption', too! ;) And, oooh, 'documentary excerpts'! Sounds fabulous! :D Ohhhhh, Joe....*stroppily stamps feet and starts wailing* I want Lookin' For Lucky now. Give me it now now now now NOWWWWW! Waaaaaaaaaaa! :D o_O

Ahem o_O , on the slideshow, well I recommend THIS site for creating your own slideshows for MySpace. It's a very popular site around MySpace (and with me, too!). You can create slideshows in a variety of different styles and sizes, etc., and you can chop and change your pics about. Then, when you've created a slideshow, the site gives you the code for it so you can copy and paste it into your profile...or it can directly put the whole thing into your profile for you. You can then edit your slideshow whenever you want.

I'm without working speakers at the moment so can't hear any of Ryan's stuff right now, but as soon as it's sorted I'll have an aural gander.

Joe has added a whole page of lovely LFL piccies to his MySpace profile. That makes it 3 pages of LFL pics now! Thank you, Joe! :) Anyway, I've now edited them into my last post. :p o_O

Lol, think I've messed up a few times, though, Joe, as I think I may have placed a few of the pics in the wrong sections (wasn't sure whether certain pics were behind-the-scenes ones or ones taken directly from the film!)! And there are also some 'incomplete' bits, too, where I haven't been sure who certain people were.... o_O  :):p

Hi Joanna

I had to reply when I saw the tag you gave Clyve - genius.

I've known Clyve now for around 9 years, I remember seeing him for the first time in my first year at Salford Uni and I remember thinking who is that guy with such an intense look on his face? I remember we locked eyes momentarily and there was just something there - something deep - almost an instant connection and I knew I'd end up working with him at some point - in fact I made it a secret goal. Like I've mentioned elsewhere - when I saw his artwork for the first time I was absolutley blown away, and knowing Clyve the actor and artist I wanted to find a way to capture that on film - it was then thoise 9 years ago that I started to get the idea for Chalkie - it's such a shame that by the time I got to shoot it Clyve was too old to play him (Greg Kelly has put an amazing performance in by the way) but what a fabulous bonus in getting him to play Moses - and the extra bonus is his art is all up there on the screen.

I saw a few of his performances in short films and plays and there was always something edgy and dangerous in those performances, something I wanted to work with.

Clyve is a deep thinker, quiet but you can almost hear the ticking in the talent bomb inside him - I've seen that bomb blow a few times now, it's raw and intense and you can't tear your eyes away - it's a joy to watch Clyve in full flow.

We've worked quite a lot together (three features now - Perfect Day, Bad Lad and Lucky) and I am sure we will work together a lot more, he deserves every bit of success he gets because if anyone 'suffers' for their art - then it's Clyve, he's not had it easy and I know during Lucky he was sleeping on his studio floor.

I'm honoured to have worked with him, he's like a Hendrix, Lennon, Dylan, Pacino, Benicio Del Toro - BONELLE - raw and untouchable. You used the word 'genius' and like all geniuses he is tortured, there is a demon in him (and a few more of us when I think about it) to me he never looks totally at peace - I wish him it from the bottom of my heart, I love him like a brother and wish I saw more of him.

In my forty seven years on this planet I have made a lot of acquaintances but few friends - most of that is down to me. I run a little too deep at times and am essentially a bit of a loner, and I'll admit a little too thin skinned at times - I recognise that and know it's not a particularly good trait. I shut down and off and it's MY demon that causes this - being this way makes it hard for people around me but at times it's all consuming - difficult to control, and I see similar manifestations in Clyve. Of the few friends I have Clyve is one of them and always will be.

Sorry if this comes across over sentimental but I mean it and I just needed to get that out there.

You're doing a fantastic job here Joanna - thank you.

J xx

You will know what I mean when I say, I 'think' it went very well. You never can tell and never want to jinx it by saying 'great' and then you find you missed grabbing an all important shot.

Ps, Joe if you missed it, here's one of your other all time co-conspirators in action: http://www.pleasedsheep.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2056&postcount=329

Joe - Well, better out than in, don't they say?! :p :) Anyway, sometimes things just have to be said as they are. :) And I love the irony in your post, btw! ;) :)

'Genius'?! Hmm, doesn't quite do the guy justice, does it?! o_O :)

Thanks for keeping us updated with links to the additional pics Joanna :) and thanks Joe for telling us a little bit more about Clyve and yourself. It's a lovely post. I think you're right, those people with the feelings you describe can make great 'artists' of one sort or another. They have that little extra, that they don't always want, and perhaps keep hidden from people in every day life, but find a way to release it and 'use' it in their art. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. :)
