They'll be wanting money to play The Birdy Song at kids parties next!

Of all the examples you could have come up with to make your point, you had to choose that one.

Any adult who subjects children to The Birdy Song at parties should be forced to pay.

With their life.

Hey Gorf, it's a fact of life. When you're under the age of 6 anything with a beat makes you dance. I say dance I mean leap around like a lunatic. That's the great thing about being a kid, you can be as ignorant as you like. Problem is some people carry it on into adulthood.

I could have said Agadoo.

Yuck.

Still, at least when you remind us of all the crap that was in the charts when we were kids, it reminds us not to gripe about the crap our kids listen to now.

A year or so ago, I was on the sidelines when the DJ played Toy Dolls' "Nellie The Elephant" at the school disco. The kids loved it, despite it age, although I remember being a bit disturbed by the video when I was a kid...

Gotta say that Nellie the Elephant is probably one of the least offensive of those novelty records. It's not up there with Mr Blobby and anything by Black Lace. It's one of those songs that as a kid was a bit more anarchistic and rebellious in tone. You could scream the lyrics rather than sing them.

Best novelty records? Hole in my Shoe by Neil off the Young Ones, Star Trekkin' and The Bucket of Water Song.

I have to say that it's a shame that Cop missed out on Tiswas, him being one of the youngest members of the team. He'd have appreciated it's pure anarchy.

How about John Kettley Is The Weatherman by Tribe Of Toffs? That was brilliant. :)

In terms of novelty songs, you can't beat a bit of Bernard Cribbins (Hole In The Ground, Right Said Fred....). And not forgetting The Wurzels...I got 20 acres and you got 43...

Hang on, weren't music videos made to promote the music?

If so what's the problem with having them on a public access site?

Crazy!

By that train of thought, perhaps Hollywood should pull all their film trailers off there. Them pirates will be copying them

Let's take it even further. I saw an advert for burgers on there the other day from the 80's. Someone's gonna nick Captain Birdseye's ideas if they aren't careful!
