Call it payment, call it 'expenses', call it money was offered to him, call it watever you want, . Money went from Pennine to Alex.....i know it...thus the £5 pound asking price....

Don't give too much credence to people turning up, they are just people doing a job. Who wouldn't want to be invited around the world for a few quid to talk about something you love....hardly hard work...is it...

The point was to call it the best the achievement of your life is quite sad. Alex would cringe, he recognises that he is just a lucky filmmaker who is fortunate to have made some features. There is no pecking order of opinion, with Alex at the top, then say Mick, then me...an opinion is an opinion regardless....that is all...

Cop...you aren't even worth a reply...

Wiggy...yes it is enormous fun, i love working on anythiny providing the fame junkies stay away, and the pecking order morons keep out...i love working on most things...the experience is great....just don't expect the outcomes to automatically be tremendous...there is lots of god awfull stuff out there, that doesn't deserve the light of day.....

Oh dear more bitter resentment and misguided opinions. Goodbye troll, go stalk another bunch of people :)

What I find funny is that this guy took my 'proudest moment' comment and took it literally. It was an amazing achievement because normally stuff like that isn't put on in Accrington, Alex is a great role model for young filmmakers. He's still making movies, he's courteous, knowledgeable and he's doing it for the right reasons. Whether he wants to acknowledge it or not it's true and that's why we wanted him here. He certainly didn't cringe when I said Searchers 2.0 was inspiring after he told me it was shot in 15 days.

Alex wasn't paid a jot to come to Accrington. He came from shooting his latest movie Repo Chick and he had to travel from Phoenix, US to come to Accrington in Lancashire. It would have been a major inconvenience to him, especially as his flight was delayed then re-routed to San Francisco. When he got here he was absolutely shattered. He didn't ask for a cut of the taking from that evening, and any thoughts of a profit being made again is misguided. Money did not go from Pennine to Alex.

Cop well done for annoying him enough to be speechless (JM not AC).

And Wiggy keep enjoying what you do. I hear that the problem with JM and his self acknowledged lack of talent was due to him not enjoying the process enough.

And this is why JM is now banned, for anonymously trying to impose his opinions as fact in an attempt to misguide anyone who may be reading, to hijack and sabotage any useful threads, and for personal insults yet again.

And for signing up as three members, read below.

Hi Guys.

Just to clear this up, Loved the Pennine. Got talking to Alex, he was pleased that his flights and 'expenses' for him and his wife were paid for. He needed to be in England anyway and the repo chick shoot had finished weeks ago, shot in LA not Phoenix. JM has hit a nerve with you Michael there, just ignore him. He was stating opinions and not imposing them. Mind you from your photo you look easily wound up. Are you still voting Tory?

Well the guard was truly dropped today.

JM has just shown that he's on the site for malicious purposes (no shit sherlock). He's just signed up as "LenKoach" and posted some crap about Alex's wife being paid to come over here (she wasn't) and me voting Tory (bizarre and untrue!).

Not only bizarre but they share the same IP address/net connection. This is how I found that they were the same person. Another recently signed up member shares the same connection too...

No, you've been careful not to use the same connection all credit to you. T'was a good scam. Until... 18-03-09, 02:34 PM - posts 33 & 34 of this thread.

Same IP address, same location, same person.

LenKoach posted with the same IP as JM too.

Looks like I missed all the fun.

Is it worth setting up a new thread, as the original purpose of this one seems to have been totally subverted...

Film distribution. An issue. Yes.

I had an interesting chat with Kate Taylor the other week, and she said "well, you need to support British films. Go and see them!"

With that in mind, is anyone going to see Mancattan at the Dancehouse on Saturday?

I've seen the long trailer for Mancattan. Seems like a clever little movie. Reminds me a lot of Curb Your Enthusiasm in the way that it's shot, but with an obvious and acknowledged Woody Allen tone to the story.

Ah methinks I have the hang of it!!!!! I can post!

I love the image of me on the happy pills bottle - quite flattering! I always knew I was better looking than Alex Cox - the fucker has more hair than me though.

I missed the Mancattan premiere due to reasons beyond my control and I'm feeling pretty frustrated about that. Did anyone see it?

And Chris, Alex might have more hair than you, but he wouldn't look good in a wig....

I loved Mancattan.

It's not without flaws - the sound and cinematography were slightly ropey - but the acting and script were superb. I had a chat with Colin Warhurst afterwards, and hopefully he'll try to get distribution. It's one of the better films I've seen this year (I liked it more than Hush).
