Just thought I'd mention that Richard Hammond the Top Gear presenter who was in a horrific car accident last week has now been put in a general ward.

Richard was a presenter at Radio Lancashire but always managed to find time to help the students at Blackburn College. Amazing that we took it for granted but after ten years of being on the fringes of the industry I now realise that helpful people are few and far between.

He helped us with a project on the supernatural and I always remember him being such a top bloke for giving his time up, and the fact that he didn't talk down to us - or get pissed off when we were taking a while to sort out the chromakey.

So I was a bit taken back last week when I heard the bad news.

I hope he gets well soon, good to hear he's doing well.

Couldn't agree more, Michael.

I was very saddened to hear about what happened to Richard and so I'm relieved to hear he is now, slowly but surely, on the mend. Get well very soon, Richard. :)

He was the dude from Chingle Hall wasn't he Booth? All I remember from that is Gordon (I think) doing the headless bloke bit. Those were the days.

By the way how's he not died from that? He was doing somersaults whilst doing 300 mph in a car with no roof! That helmet must have been made from the same stuff as those black box recorders you get on planes.

Lucky fella.

He was and wasn't. He couldn't make it to the supposedly haunted Chingle Hall so the plan was to record a shot of the fireplace, then later record Richard against blue screen and key them together. On the night when no one was looking Gordon Huxley took it upon himself to pull his head in his coat and walk in front of the camera. It wasn't till the footage was reviewed days later that we saw his 'headless ghoul' act. And an interesting footnote is that whoever set up the camera got the dimensions wrong. So when Richard Hammond was added to the shot, he looked like one of the Borrowers and the fireplace looked gigantic.

Or unlucky depending on how you look at it. Apparently he wasn't supposed to be the person who did that test drive. The person who was supposed to do it couldn't, so he stepped in. If he hadn't he probably wouldn't be in hospital.
