Birty and I had a smashing road trip... on the way back we listened to "Alan Partridge: Knowing Me, Knowing You" the Radio Version, and The Ricky Gervais Podcasts, the 6 hour drive flew by.
Got loads to report about the festival... bit knackered right now, it was eventful. I don't think the Cornish will forget the "Bad Lad" lot in a hurry.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I'll let others fill you all in on the details. All I'll say is the following: Not much sleep, quality setting, people walking out of our screening, me offending 2 ridiculous women, a near punch up with a prick, a question and answer segment by the bad lads that had to be seen to be believed, a dog shitting on a beach, a last minute Timmy Cahill equalizer and everyone laughing at Cop's stupidity.
All in all an excellent weekend.

I'm still too tired to write up a blog! Interesting weekend, we brought crime, corruption and graphic sexuality to such a lovely little town - and they seemed to like it! A few viewers after the screening joined us for drinks and said they'd never been preview to some of the things in the film as they'd lived quite a sheltered life. And they really enjoyed it and couldn't wait for it to arrive on DVD. They also said they weren't sure 'what was real and what wasn't'.
Watching the film after a long time away from it, it's certainly a strange beast. And it's a film that makes people gasp in horror, I mean the audience literally jumped and held their privates at one point (even the girls), laugh hysterically, and one moment led to a few people walking out (5 minutes earlier I'd seen one of the 'walkers' laughing her socks off at another scene).
The QnA was almost as unique as the film it accompanied. Unique is probably an understatement. It was like being at some sort of political rally once Jon started his rant at the UK film council and the British Film Industry. As Cop said in his post, they won't forget it.

Well, er, glad you all had such a 'lovely' time at the festival! Makes me both really wish I had been there and really hadn't been there all at the same time!
On the new site...www.myfilms.co.uk...that the UK Film Council has set up to promote UK films screening at UK cinemas, there is a page dedicated to Bad Lad (the UFC picking up on the film through its inclusion in the Cornwall Film Festival). And there's a opportunity to show support for the film through this page, and to maybe make the Digital Screen Network sit up and take much more notice of it. To do this, you need to watch the trailer through and then click on the 'Yes' option when it then asks you if, based on the trailer, you'd like to see this at the cinema. Well, duh!!

I was not responsible for that photo by the way, it was taken by Joe O'Byrne on a very hot day in France, hence the shades! My Mum has already called me a tosser for wearing shades in the picture.

Hey Birty! Not so fast! People walking out of our screening? But when the lights went up at the end for the Q&A (and a good time was had by all - me and Michael got so much applause at the end that I nearly fell of the stage with all the bowing - and no, I was not drunk...) there was just about as many there as at the start. And that was a Sunday night when the start of the screening had been delayed for more than an hour, so the film didn't finish till nearly 11pm - with a Q&A still to come. Some people have to go to work you know - even in Cornwallshire. No, it was more a case of bladder trouble caused by the venues bar and its 'real ale' - or 'Southern piss' as you kept referring to it. And also to the fact that they let you take drinks into the auditorium - how many times did you go to the bar during the screening? Was it three, or was it four? So yes, there were people going out and coming in again!
As far as festival director, John Wojowski was concerned, Bad Lad was the most challenging film in the whole festival and it 'really socked it to the Southern softies'.
Any way 5,332 Chinese fans can't be wrong....
