Todays was really good, muh better than the first two for me.

We got a background story to the Ood which we had never got before. I also liked how it was Donna and not the Doctor that looked to the bigger picture with the Ood. Whereas the doctor was more focussed on the one Ood and it's 'illness' Donna was concerned about how and why they were happy to be slaves- something the Doctor had taken for granted like everybody else. And how she made the Doctor feel guilty at ignoring them the last time he met them.

I'm growing to Donna, they are building her into a good character. I just wish we wouldn'y get the Catherine Tate show voices. I heard Nan twice today.

I enjoyed last night's episode. Halpen turning into an Ood is my favourite moment of the series so far. It was disgusting...brilliant! :)

And the line, 'Everyone's song must end sometime Doctor,' had me do an internal squeak.

*wibble*

This series seems to have more a classic Who feel to it than the previous 3 series so far, and no doubt that'll continue with the Sontaran returning next week.

I really enjoyed Saturday's episode. I loved the scene with Halpen transforming into an Ood, although it was so so so so so SO disgusting to watch!

I want to know what the stuff with the bees is about. That's twice it's been mentioned now so I'm sure it must have a bigger part to play later on.

The scene where the Ood told the Doctor that his song is ending and everyone's song must end sometime....wow, that gave me goosebumps!

What with Rose's cameo in episode 1, The Doctor being told "she is returning" and Donna being told she has something on her back in episode 2, and now The Doctor being told that his song is ending....I'm sure this is all gonna be linked up somehow, maybe with the bees too.

What a bloody brilliant episode of DW tonight's was! It was so enjoyable and involving. I really got into that. And with all the challenges that must have been thrown up during the making of it (some of which being glimpsed in the following Doctor Who Confidential), it must have been such a rewarding experience for the actors involved. I'd imagine that sort of work must be the kind that actors partly become actors for in the first place. Great stuff.

Totally agree Joanna, it was fab!!! It was really watchable and involving and quite chilling and spooky as well. And how fab was Lesley Sharp?! I can't believe how little Donna featured though but I'm guessing that this is because she takes centre stage next week?

That next time trailer looked amazing and, yay, Rose is back!! :)

Yeah, I've read that it was because Catherine Tate was off filming for next week's (Doctor-lite) episode whilst this one was filming. She does seem to feature quite heavily in it.

It was good but not as good as the previous two weeks.

Can't wait for Steven Moffat to take over the helm in 2010.

What a fantastic episode tonight :) Absolutely brilliant. Catherine Tate was especially fantastic....I really wasn't too sure about her becoming the new companion when it was first announced but, boy, has she proved me wrong! She's been brilliant as Donna and has gone on such a journey throughout the series....the character development and depth has been brilliant. I loved the scene tonight when she was getting ready to go back in time and she begged Rose to tell her that she wasn't going to die, but Rose couldn't.

I also loved the Bad Wolf scene.

Next week's looks fantastic as well with all the companions back and Gwen and Ianto too!

The only slightly negative thing was Rose, sadly :( I've been looking forward to her return but I was left feeling slightly disappointed......Billie said last year that she would often try and get back into the character of Rose in front of the mirror at home but she'd have real difficulty with it, especially doing the voice, and I thought that showed last night, to be honest. I think that maybe they would have been better leaving her in the parallel world and leaving us with the memory of Bad Wolf Bay as her final scene.... :(

Well that was a pretty average ending, given the build up to it. The regeneration cliffhanger was dealt with too quickly. Although I always knew The Doctor wasn't actually regenerating a bit more tension for a bit longer at the start of the episode would've been nice. The episode was a bit clunky in the end, though it had brief moments of suspense that just dragged it away from being slightly poor for a finale.

Jackie was just simply surplus to requirements and took up time and dialogue that could've been better spent elsewhere.

Catherine Tate was actually brilliant and has been for the whole series. So kudos to her for far exceeding expectations.

David Tennant has really showed why he is The Doctor. After 3 series he'll surely go down as the best actor to ever play the character. He's certainly my Doctor. The others have merely been good.

I thought the finale was a bit of a mixed episode......there were some amazing moments, but also some very average moments.

I was disappointed by the resolution to the "regeneration"....I knew David had already filmed the Christmas special so wasn't leaving, but I was expecting a much bigger twist and for it to be drawn out a lot longer than it was.

I was disappointed with the DoctorDonna stuff.....I was expecting a much bigger shock as to why they have been so drawn to each other. I did find the Doctor imitating Donna and Donna imitating the Doctor hilarious though :)

The only thing I probably really hated, loathed and detested during the episode though was Rose getting to live in her parallel world with the part human Doctor.....it was too sickly sweet for my liking and, IMO, completely diminished and ruined the fantastic exit she received in Doomsday :(

In contrast, I thought Donna's exit was fantastic. It's a shame that RTD copped out and didn't kill her off in the end though....I've loved Donna throughout this series and she's probably my fave companion from the new series to date, so it would have been horrible if she had been killed off, but I think that would have probably been more of a fitting end to the character. That said though, I did think her exit was fantastic, and utterly utterly heartbreaking. She's wanted to travel with the Doctor and see time and space for so long and now she's having to forget all the wonderful things she did and saw :(

Catherine Tate has been phenomenal in the role, whoever takes over as companion now will have their work cut out.

I didn't really see the point of Jackie and Mickey being in the episode though, it was a pointless waste of screentime. Although I did wonder whether Mickey might be joining Torchwood now? It seemed to possibly hint that way with Mickey going off with Jack at the end and Jack commenting that he can't get rid of him. I think it was definitely hinted that Martha will be joining the TW team though - when Jack told her that he's not too sure about UNIT now and that there's something else she could do.

So, all in all, a bit of a mixed bag. I did enjoy it though! And the Christmas special looks awesome!!

Great to see K9 back too - I cheered! :D

Btw, I wish the lovely Wilf had got to travel in the TARDIS at some stage :( He would have loved it!!

Laura xx

P.S - I loved the German Daleks! Exterminieren! Exterminieren! :D Oh, and I also loved the reference to Gwen and Gwyneth, fab!

I disagree, I thought "Donna" was annoying throughout the series, spoilt it if anything, and I think Catherine Tate was only cast because she was flavour of the month.

Her character was pointless, proven by her existence in the last episode - Martha and Rose could have been there for the same reasons - fate meant them to be there.

Nothing particular happened, I thought the introduction of The Sarah Jane Adventures and Torchwood was tacky, and only used because the writers decided to.

Roses exit was nothing but sickly and wasted. I thought it was a poor finale. As usual The Daleks weren't evil enough, there was no peril, in fact I thought is it was utter crap, and I got angry that everyone lived happily ever after.

Again, coincidence and alien science saved the day, and I think the new series of Docor Who has been nothing more than a disappointment compared to previous series'.

The regeneration cliff-hanger was a farce, a complete let down and I cant wait until Steven Mofatt takes over as head writer, as I think Russel T Davies' style has been almost vomit fuelling... just girly... really girly!

I wish they would kill off Captain Jack "I'm gay and get used to it" Harkness (I know he is Face of Bo - But I'm sick of his pointless use of Gay Innuendos throughout his screen time!!!!) By the way - Torchwood is shit!

In the finale, Captain Jack was pointless, along with the rest of the Doctor Who spin-offs. What did they do?... why have them there?

All in all, I thought it was utter tosh. I can only hope that new episodes will invent more exiting storylines.

I thought this series, with perhaps the exception of the opening and closing episodes, has been the best of new Who so far. And while RTD's episodes have been the weaker elements over the last 4 years, I'd still defend him as executive producer as without his force behind it from the start the series my never have reached a second series let alone a 4th. He made the comeback of Doctor Who both possible and workable for the future. For that I'm grateful.

After next year though, it'll be taken over by someone who really knows what they're doing. RTD is actually a good writer, but just not necessarily a good sci-fi writer.

Oh, and Captain Jack isn't gay.

He's bi-sexual.

I TOTALLY agree with you, the new series' of Doctor Who has just been brilliant, I should have mentioned that... but that's what disappointed me with the latest finale.

But in regards to Captain Jack... that character does annoy me.

I'm not homophobic, (if people wish to believe I am... well fine) but I hate that in the script that he says "I know about Martha Jones' tape thingy... becuase I was talking to a man in a bar about it" - Oh f*ck off!!

It's just crap, a way of Russell T Davies slotting in Homosexual Pointlessness into his TV series. What was the point in that line? What's the point in Jack Harkess knowing about that chip? Did it REALLY move the storyline along? Did it really matter how he came across that knowledge? No it didn't! It's just bollocks. Just a way of shoe-horning that Jack frequents Gay Bars.

I don't think this finale was anything compared to the Dooms Day episode, which was so well written with previous episodes in mind... it had a heart wrenching ending, but I think Russell T Davies has spoilt it with this new ending! In fact, why bring Rose back into it anyway? She was gone!

It was just too sickly, and gives the opportunity for future writers to bring any character back, for no reason what so ever...

When Ianto gave him a quizical look about it, Jack did quickly say, "Strictly professional." So it wasn't a homosexual encounter but a ligitimate meeting with someone with information about Project Indigo. And it wasn't specified that it was a gay bar. It was just a bar.

The only vaguely gay intonation from the last episodes was when Jack gave Ianto a kiss on the forehead, but that was through pure comforting affection in the face of death, so not gay at all. He kissed Gwen on the forehead in exactly the same way for the same reason. And she's a girl.

Jack knowing about Project Indigo (not the Osterhagen Key) was most likely a marker for Torchwood as Martha will be in the next series with Mickey. No doubt the teleporter will be used, possibly by Jack to find his lost brother.

His acting didn't need to specify, that was the whole point. What Captain Jack was saying - that he was getting information from a man in a bar! - That's the "joke" - Obviously, strictly professional... - Come on! Why didn't he get it from a 'woman at a bus stop?'

I think that's shit writing by somebody wanting to make a mark, a point, or a statement... I don't know... but its shoe-horned in whatever.

But still, it got the storyline nowhere. I don't see the point of any of the spin-offs being there. With Captain Jack, everytime he gets killed, he comes back to life.... but what does he do... apart from be there... Being annoying?

I don't think that that bit was "pointlessly gay". In fact, that was the only point where I believed where Jack (and the spin-offs) had any kind of genuine emotion and real belief in certain death from the Daleks... I thought that part of the episode was quite scary!

But overall, I think his character is wasted in Doctor Who at the moment, and I think Torchwood (although light years better than ITV's Prime Evil) is crap, I cant see where his character is going... if anywhere at all... I think he just pointless, even in Torchwood, he will get his crew out of the jam

It was a very poor episode, and it just tied up loose ends which didn't need to be tied.

Well to be fair, I (or the audience) don't know if it's a gay bar... but going off Jack's character history - we assume it is. Otherwise why say he was talking to a man in a bar... why not a another person involved with Torchwood, somewhere? A man in a bar? Can Russell T Davis not come up with something more imaginative than that?

But my problem with it is, that it had NO point to the storyline. Jack had no point to the storyline. The whole of Torchwood thing had no point to it really... apart from letting everyone know that Plant Earth and the other twenty-odd planets were supposedly fucked! (but I didn't believe that for one moment - Because of the Time Lords science and coincidence)

I mean they didn't even kill any of the other planets off... it was just soooo sugar coated and the finale was just an excuse to show off what Davies had created with all his spin-offs by bringing them all together... please, pass me the sick bucket!

It wasn't clever at all, I don't think there was any major intention to bring them all together, it was just an idea the BBC had, which was wasted in my opinion.
