Now that the 800 Posts thread has closed there's a bit of a void for just posting little silly things that are in your mind or little oddities that don't quite need a whole thread to themselves.

So here's this thread to serve as a place to have sort of free flowing conversation type posts. Any subject, any point, any thought, any time.

On my mind right now...I'd really like my back to start working properly again.

I thought this Thread may be a really dangerous door to open, and that's just proved it.

It's only going to feed my paranoia knowing what people are thinking. My mind is always wandering off on it's own, I keep looking on eBay for one of those retractable dog leads for it. One day it won't be able to find it's way back. And just in case anyone's already tempted, it's not an age-related thing, it's always done it! Have a nice day!

They're all over the place these days. It's all mess-free and done with lasers, and (I'm told) it's quite painless.

I used to have a lodger when I lived on a houseboat, and his feet were so manky he had to leave his shoes on the gunwhale otherwise the air would be unbreathable. Whatever was making the pong is very nutritious, because if he left them there more than a weekend, green stuff started growing from them. We'd have to prise them off and just let them plop in the canal...

Well, the room he vacated has taken a lot of tidying and cleaning, but once I soak the curtains overnight and burn the mattress, it should smell OK in there...

Fire Rages At Universal Studios​

Hundreds of firefighters are tackling a blaze which is tearing through Universal Studios in Los Angeles.

Fire captain Frank Reynoso says the alarm was raised just before dawn and at least one explosion had been heard.

Helicopters are dumping large quantities of water from the skies.

The blaze started on a sound stage and crews are working with the studio's own firefighters to ensure the flames do not spread to nearby brush.

Los Angeles County fire Inspector Daryl Jacobs said at least one building had been burnt and three blocks of movie facades destroyed.

"The facades are constructed of heavy timber and they tend to burn quite freely," he said.

There have been no reports of injuries and it is not known if filming was underway at the time.

Visitors to Universal City can see sets from films such as Psycho and Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds as well as television shows like Desperate Housewives and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

Jurassic Park and ET were also filmed on the 230-acre site.

Well...A little while before 9pm last night, I spotted that there was to be a programme on ITV3 at that time called Stuart Maconie's TV Towns. SM was looking at programmes set in Manchester (Coronation Street, Queer As Folk, Cracker and Life On Mars mentioned in the Radio Times blurb for some of the shows looked at), and so thought it might well be worth a watch. However, on sitting down to watch it, I find Agatha Christie's Poirot just about to start instead...the programme down in listings as being on from 8-9pm! A check on my recorder's digiguide later and I find that Poirot and TV Towns had been blooming swapped round in the schedules...so I'd missed the lot (with no sign of a repeat...though this one Poirot was on several times during yesterday!)! Then I see from said digiguide that one of the locations he was visiting was Canal Street. I'm guessing that that was mostly related to Queer As Folk...though Chris has also done filming on CS....Please tell me it wasn't this show that he was on.... He wasn't? Ah, okay....

In what context did he turn up on the show? Was it to do with the Todd and Karl stuff on Canal Street, with perhaps a TK clip shown as Stuart walked round Canal Street/Spirit?

It was probably the briefest clip possible of Todd and Karl's kiss. It really wasn't anything to worry about if you missed it.

It's the second series of Stuart Maconie's TV Towns. Always worth a look as it not only shows places that have been used in TV film locations but also gives a history of the area. There was one last series that showed a church used in Crossroads that also had in its graveyard the resting place of musician Nick Drake. The coincidence being that his sister starred in Crossroads. Then they showed the visitor book where Nick's fans had left messages when they've come by to visit his grave.

It's little snippets like that that really make the programme. Why it's tucked away on ITV3 I've no idea.

Ah, okay. Thanks. Did Stuart actually go into Spirit or any of the other CS clubs; and was there much on the 'history' of the area?

I'll no doubt watch next week's (though perhaps checking ITV3 much earlier than the 'scheduled' time!), as he's in Birmingham (not far from me). No idea how many I may or may not watch after that, as I don't know how long the series is! Now...a repeat of this week's........

He didn't go into any of the clubs or bars but he spoke to someone who's been a regular of Canal Street since the 70s outside one of the cafes. They were just saying how it used to be the waterway between Manchester and Rochdale and how the decline of the area appropreiated it to have 'secret' bars for gay men.

Other places shown were the first council housing in the world, a swimming bath used by the first woman to swim the channel and the Midland Hotel which is said to have escaped the bombs of WW2 as Hitler had visited it in 1912 and fancied having it as his northern HQ if he'd won the war.
