But at the end of the day IT WAS A JOKE. As you can imagine I'm not a fan of censorship
Neither am I. As long as the person at the recieving end of the joke or banter is part of it then how anyone else can be offended I've no idea.

After having it explained to me I can understand how some people might find it offensive. However to do so would be to beleive that oral sex is an exclusively gay thing, when it isn't, infact I'd hazard a guess that some gay fellows don't partake in it themselves.

I'm just of the opinion that you should be able to make a joke about pretty much anything, as long as it's actually funny. And that said it's not as if we were like Joan Rivers joking about 9/11 widows, Bernard Manning telling jokes about Muslim women, or the Brasseye Special. It was simply Birty cheekily holding a badly written sign that said... "Finchy Sucks Cock."

The member who complained did so because she believed it may offend her gay friends. I always got amusement from it not because it mocked gays (as I said it's not an exclusively gay act) but because of the slyness in which the sign was implemented along with the childishness of the whole exercise (further underlined by Birty's 'I got away with it' grin, which is the thing that really made me laugh).

Watch the excellent film Funny Bones in which Freddy Parrot Face Davies says that anything that's funny has the potential to hurt somebody.

You're always going to offend someone where humor is concerned.

Did she ask her gay friends what they thought first?

I've got to add that I've had it explained to me that it wasn't a complaint as such, just an explanation as to why she hasn't taken part in the thread discussion. And no she didn't ask her gay friends, but felt that young homosexuals may find themselves part of the joke with Chris playing such a prominent gay part in the countries biggest soap. And taking part in the thread would mean condoning it, which she didn't want to for fear of upsetting her friends.

Though as I said I think the reason it was a funny clip is because it was Chris that was unwittingly the target, and rather the sneakiness in which he was duped. The sign under his face could have been replaced with anything that would have had the same result. My point is that if it was just what the sign said that was funny, then yes it would be homophobic. But it wasn't :)

Oooh, what's going on here then?! It seems like I've missed something and now I'm all confused!

I didn't get chance to watch the vid before it was taken offline so, not am I only Finchy deprived, but I don't have any idea what you're all going on about! *sobs* :(

From what I've read though, I'm guessing that someone found something in the vid offensive and complained and it had to be taken offline?

I hope this isn't the start of "censorship" on here :(

Jesus Fucking Christ, (Shakes head in complete and utter astonishment). I wonder if this is how the Python's felt after Life of Brian was released. Put the fucking video back on. I new we should have stuck with our first idea and wrote 'Finchy eats wax crayons' on that microphone. Mind you those people who have friends that eat wax crayons may not have liked it, and those wax crayon eaters are a formidable lot. You don't want to take on those crayon eaters.

I'll try to keep this short, but would like to make a few things clear.

I sent a personal message to Wiggy in answer to his post suggesting that he believed that no-one was commenting on his vid because he thought we may be disgruntled that he'd made fun of Chris.

I wasn't even going to mention the vid until I read his post.

I sent my pm because:-

Firstly, I didn't want him to think I was so lacking a sense of humour I would object to someone playing a prank on Chris. and

Secondly, since he was obviously a bit disappointed that few people had commented on it, I wanted to assure him that I appreciate everything he does for us and love his vids, but hadn't felt I could comment on this one, because I wasn't sure whether some of my friends would appreciate the 'joke' or not and decided I would say nothing.

That was it. No demands to have it removed. No accusations that it was homophobic, just an apology for not feeling able to comment on it on the thread.

I wrote the pm because I wanted to show appreciation to Wiggy so he didn't think he'd gone to all that trouble for nothing, and, explain a wish not to hurt any of my friends that may have been offended, if I appeared to condone it.

I try to think very carefully before I post anything that could hurt anyone's feelings, if there's a chance I might upset someone, when they have an opinion different to mine, I try hard not to get sarcastic and personal to make my point. Obviously not everyone lives by the same code of conduct.

I didn't ask for the vid to be removed, that was Wiggy's decision. So, I'm sorry this has been turned into some big debate about censorship - and I'm sorry the contents of what was a personal message have suddenly become so public, with everyone jumping to the conclusion that "she" has got on her high horse and demanded the vid be removed. So before anyone else jumps on the band wagon, that isn't what happened.
